about amy

This is the part where I get to talk about my style and give you enough confidence in my abilities to

commission my services! Well, as a lifelong learner at the Institute of Art in Manchester, I am constantly

reminded that photography comes from the heart. There are landscape photographers who fall in love with

a single group of trees; there are those attracted to structural design and patterns. I have always been a

great people watcher, truly celebrating the idiosyncrasies that make each person unique from

another…finding the purest joy in unraveling the puzzle of what makes up each personality that happens

into my life. But above all, it's the most sincere love and appreciation of people and relationships that is

predominant in my work.

The biggest miracle of all to me is that out of all the people in the world, two individuals meet and choose

to share a life together. …and every time a couple invites me to document this great romantic beginning, I

can't help but become vicariously involved-I still cry at most ring exchanges,
and every first dance, and

yes, just about every father daughter dance….I just feel the intensity of intimate
feelings that are shared

by a family and best friends on a wedding day. It tugs on my heart, makes me feel
alive and so lucky to

have a front row seat not only in sharing these feelings but in documenting the spirit
of the day in timeless

images that will be enjoyed through generations. From my own experience, that day
is only the beginning.

The best is yet to come.

I love children; I'm completely comfortable in the company of children. As a former nanny and mother of

three, the best thing about me is the children I share with the man I chose to share my life. And I know

that he has never looked more handsome to me than in the memories I have of him with his hands on my

bulging pregnant belly as we laughed in disbelief, wondering just how big it would really get! Holding my

newborn babies in his arms, kissing my babies' necks as they shrieked with excitement! And now as a

mother, I appreciate what an amazing gift it is to re-experience the joy of jumping through puddles, huge,

sticky old-fashioned lollipops, a yummy ice cream from the ice cream truck in the summertime, tossing up

brilliant natural confetti-like autumn leaves of gold and crimson, walking arm in arm, ring around a rosy….!

How I cherish pudgy hands and feet, round kissable cheeks, potbellies and jelly rolls…wrists with creases

so deep, looking as though tied with a rubber band….And they grow so fast! I know I just want to notice

everything and remember everything! And so, that's what I thought I'd do: document these details for

families in pictures.

So, I guess I have the most in common with the wildlife photographer. I will get low on the ground with your

children; I will hold my breath as an unobtrusive observer hoping to catch that most fantastic expression; I

will take multiple frames of the same picture just to get that single perfect shot. Maybe I will entice

someone with a treat. But the goal is always to capture an honest image of your child, the natural spirit of

your family in my photos with my camera…and my heart.
